So new film count peoples, The Fighter, Cougars Inc, High Fidelity, Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist, Borat, The Other Guys,Hercules, Batman Begins, Akira & Into the Wild
The Fighter Finally got round to watching this after it won all the awards few years ago and it didn’t disappoint. Bale’s acting in this and his commitment to the role is insane! 7/10
Cougars Inc I’ve been watching a lot of Kyle Gallner’s films recently and this one was a pretty funny indie film with him basically becoming a pimp of his friends to get with older ladies hence the name. He meets a girl his own age and is involved with an older woman as well so he’s needs to decided which is the one for him. 6.5/10
High Fidelity Totally misread this film, I expect something a la Clerks in a record store, instead i got John Cusack trying to sort out his life and previous relationships by enquiring from previous lovers. I also love when films break the fourth wall and this film does it in abundance 7/10
Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist I love Kat Dennings, Michael Cera has the ability to make me laugh in any film that he is in although he does seem to play the same role unfortunately but this film is just great. Seems like an advert for New York 8/10
Borat Probably one of the best comedies I’ve seen and I personally think it is criminally underrated. Sacha Baron Cohen has executed a masterpiece in his role as the kazahk reporter who is new to America and its culture. 9/10
The Other Guys After a friend pestered me to watch it for a couple of months i finally gave in and it wasn’t a disappointment! Ferrell playing a normal workaholic desk jockey, and Wahlberg as a ‘framed’ cop who always wanted to step it up to the big leagues. 7/10
Akira One of the anime classics and I maanged to snag the dvd from a mate after hearing about the live action remake. I was expecting some amazing fantasy epic or something along those lines and got something far different. The film felt amazingly surreal to me. Good luck to the American writers cos there’s a lot of stuff in this film that only works as a cartoon. Film wasn’t for me. 5/10
Into The Wild Emile Hirsch aka Speed Racer plays Alex Supertramp a freshly graduated teen who decides to travel to Alaska rather than go to university. I really liked how this film was filmed visually it seems like an amazing advert to see the States. btw I found out after i watched the film that it was a true story. 7/10
Hercules Into greek mythology and i can’t say no to a disney film but this film was pretty crap, i’m gonna have to watch the lion king to erase it from my memory. 4/10
Batman Begins Decided to watch the Dark Knight then thought I should really watch Batman Begins to get in the mood and man I forget how good this film is. Best reboot I’ve seen. Also realised that part was filmed in the UK due to all the british bit part actors. 8/10
